As with many of her friends at KK Uganda, the war in Northern Uganda affected Betty in a plethora of ways. She lost her husband, who was a soldier in the Ugandan military, and two of her children were abducted by the rebel army. Fortunately, one was able to escape and return home. Her quality of life has improved drastically since entering the KK Uganda program. She has been able to buy the medication she needs to treat her HIV and is paying for her children’s school fees.
