Dear Alanyo Alice,

Thank you so much for making my Emma headband. Not only is it beautifully knitted, each flower being just it's own but, it also has another extra special meaning to me. Almost three years ago, my family put down my dog and dearest friend, Emma, and, though I was doing better, lately I have been thinking of her and feeling out of sorts. Then Krochet Kids Spring '14 collection came out and my eye immediately caught the just my style flower headband and I saw the name and knew, in that moment it was meant to be. So when it arrived I had to thank the wonderful woman who made my hope, which lead me to read your story. Now when I wear my new headband, I will think not only of my dog but, of the strong, forward moving woman who made it and hold my head up high, certain happiness is ahead.

Alice, I am happy with my new hat which you have made. It is truly unique and special that I am able to know who made my product and am able to thank them. I was born in Russia but currently live in Austin, Texas in the United States. I hope to visit Africa very soon, I have many friends from different countries in Africa. I have studied and followed African culture for many years. I relate to the rastafarian lifestyle and am amazed at such a beautiful and peaceful culture. One love. <3

You are a true inspiration and deserve to have all your dreams come true. The horrific violence, carnage, corruption, and unspeakable images that you and your fellow country women/men have had to endure, the thought tears at my heart. I have lived in Chicago my entire life, I live about 30 minutes from the city but I do go downtown quite often. In the city, you could be driving on one street that has apartments worth millions of dollars then you can drive 5 minutes south and be in a dangerous impoverished area. I would pass though these parts of the city and think to myself, "It is so sad, so unfortunate" but I would keep driving and within 5 minutes my thoughts were focused back on my life. As sad as it is for people in those parts of the city, it is not even a fraction of what your people deal with.

I was blessed and very fortunate to be born into a "upper class" family, the lower 1% of society. The thought of the money that my family and I have spent on cars, clothes, food, and fancy trips, all of that money could have fed and clothed thousands of people. It could have helped you and your family. I wish I could take it all back and give it all of it to you and your people. I started to realize all this back in 2006. I saw for the first time my all time favorite movie, "Blood Diamond". This might sound a little crazy but that movie changed the way I viewed the world. I was in college at the time and decided I wanted to learn more then just what I was hearing on the news. So, I decided to take a Geography to learn as much as I possibly could. It turned out to be my favorite class of all time and the most educational.

The world has to stop ignoring the atrocities that are taking place, in countries such as Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, Darfur, Peru, etc. It doesn't matter what race you are, what your faith is, or how much money you have. We are all human beings. I can't even begin to imagine what you have gone through and still go through. When I think about the people around the world like you, who have have/had to struggle each day to even find a small piece of food so they won't starve. All of the innocents who are losing or have lost their families, friends, and homes to corrupt and murderous leaders. These government leaders have plagued these genocides against their own people, all so they could maintain power and steal all the countries money. It is immoral and absolutely disgusting. But, I stop and I think how am I that much different then these government leaders? Sure, I am not killing anyone but what have I done to stop it? What have I done to help?

I know that it is more than just the money though. It is about sending a message, that we as human beings, will not let these carnages continue anymore! I will do everything I can to send that message. I have some ideas and thoughts that I am going to contact Krochet Intl. about. Thank you Ailce, for your strength, courage, and above all for inspiring so many! You and your people are all blessings from God. I am sincerely sorry that I have not done more to help and that it took me so long to realize that there is so much going on in the world other then just in the U.S. or in my personal life. Please accept my deepest apologies and I give you my word that I will not stop spreading this message and I will continue to do everything that I possibly can to help.
